At the end of last term and into Term 3, Year 11 VET students have been participating in Work Placement. Students from all frameworks have been immersed in their industries, working with employers and gaining first-hand experience. We will continue our Work Placement sessions later in Term 4, gaining another 35 hours of on-the-job experience. The images in the gallery show numerous work placements: Entertainment Industry @ Splendour In the Grass, Fitness @ Fitness Cartel and Movement Casuarina, Construction @ local plumbing and building companies.
Many other projects and events involving VET students have been occurring around the College. The Construction classes have been working on stripping and then designing/fitting out an SJC Coffee van. This will be a very welcome asset to our school, and will also give Hospitality students the opportunity to gain espresso making experience once it is complete. This will be used for numerous events throughout the year.
At the start of the term, the Year 11 Entertainment Industry class worked on providing all aspects of production (lighting, audio and staging) for the Year 9 Drama performance of The Terrible Fate of Humpty Dumpty. Congratulations to Georgia and Leilani on producing a sophisticated and well thought out set and lighting design.
We also have a number of students who are now becoming accustomed to working in the industry each week when they participate in their SBAT work days. Congratulations to Ned, Kaleb, William and Dylan who have recently finalised their SBAT signup processes.
A massive thank you to the VET teachers for their assistance in the coordination of these placements, events and class activities during the term.
