From the Leader of Creative Arts

This week we have seen our students being very productive in the Creative and Performing Arts and Languages.  Year 7 Visual Arts students are continuing to discover how artists like John Coburn use the Visual Art elements in their artmaking.  John Coburn is one of the most iconic Australian abstraction artists of the Twentieth Century.  His images are recognisable for their shapes and colour.  They have also been experimenting with colour and line to create beautiful Roy Lichtenstein inspired works on paper.

Year 8 French have been working on describing themselves and their family and creating a family tree.  Students are also looking at the region of Normandy which is located in the North-west of France.  Normandy is the birthplace of French Impressionism and is the site of the D-Day landing from WWII.  It is also the home of the famous Bayeux Tapestry and the Mont St Michel Abbey.

Our senior performing arts students are engaging in critical creative thinking that involves expression through dramatic or musical performances.  Year 11 Drama have been exploring the Australian play ‘Jasper Jones’ through various class workshops.  They are looking forward to beginning their Individual Projects this week.  These include performance, costume design and short film.
